Thank you very much for this post. When someone says in his email “Thank you very much for your help” in business situation, how can we reply to him? Can we write “You’re welcome” or is there any more formal expressions?
David Carey 1. July 2015 at 17:24
Hi Mickael, If someone says “Thank you” in their email you can reply with phrases such as “You’re most welcome.” or “It was my pleasure to help.” It comes across as though you genuinely enjoyed helping them and look forward to helping again.

Hi, Can you please help me with a grammar construction. I work in a customer service industry since many years and generally use a http://www.targettraining.eu/writing-emails-20-ways-for-closing-an-email/

closing. I have never been marked down for it, but recently i was marked down on it for a grammatical error. Please let me know what is wrong with it. It’s a closing which many of us often use. It goes: “We look forward to be of assistance”. I’m really ghting for it. Please let me know is it incorrect.

Hi Pratik, You “Look forward to + gerund (-ing form of the verb). For example – I’m looking forward to meeting you, – I’m looking forward to talking with you, – I’m looking forward to being of assistance In this case I’m afraid it is incorrect. You could write “we look forward to being of assistance” , but you should be aware that this is quite formal and distant. “we’re looking forward to being of assistance” has a friendlier tone. Hope this helps

Hi Scott, In my opinion, this is a really solid post. For any English learners writing English emails on a regular basis, I think this toolbox of phrases is a great idea. The challenge is to keep motivated and diligently enter the phrases. If that’s done, though, I think it can really save a lot of time in the end.
